PetLink Microchip Database FAQ

Register microchips in both US and Canada

The first thing you'll want to do to start auto-registering your microchips through PetLink is to set up your PetLink Animal Professional account.

➡️➡️Click the link here to get started!⬅️⬅️

Once you create your account, just email your PetLink ID to support@pawlytics.com and we'll get you connected. Save your login information for PetLink as you'll need it to verify your registrations.

  • How do I turn on PetLink auto-registrations?
Click the link above to create your PetLink account and email your PetLink ID to support@pawlytics.com. Be sure to also tell us what date you want to start registering microchips from and done! Pawlytics will send microchip information for all pets adopted after the date you specify.
  • Can we register any brand of microchip through PetLink?
There will be an additional fee for registering non PetLink microchips, but you can absolutely register any brand. You can discuss pricing options for these chips with your PetLink representative. (see map below)
  • What type of microchips can I purchase through PetLink?
PetLink sells both a standard (12 gauge needle) and a Slim chip (14 gauge needle). The Slim chip is actually the ONLY smaller chip on the market that is appropriate for all size animals.
  • How much do they cost?
Cost of chips varies from $4.25 to $7.25 as it both depends on the type of chip you purchase and the enrollment option you choose as well.
  • What are my enrollment choices?
PetLink offers a Basic and Premium enrollment option. Both options are lifetime registrations, but the Premium option allows unlimited updates and changes to the pet's full profile. The Basic plan is updated for free for the first year someone owns their pet, and after that, they'll need to enroll separately.
  • Can my rescue's contact information stay locked on the microchip?
When you enroll your microchip through Pawlytics, you'll be attached to each pet as their guardian. This feature keeps you in the loop if any of your animals are reported lost or found. Additionally, the guardian feature cannot be taken off by the adopter.
If one of your animals is reported lost or found, you'll receive a guardian alert email advising you with the chip number, the animal's name, the pet owner's name, and the name and phone number of the organization that has the pet.
  • Does the guardian feature apply to any brand microchip?
Yes! Any microchip enrolled through the PetLink registration (whether PetLink branded or not) will be enrolled with the Guardian feature.
  • What is the minimal required data needed for the registration to work?
The following pet and people information must be filled out BEFORE you mark the adoption outcome:
Pet Data: Name, Microchip #, Sex, Breed, Color
People Data: First name, Last name, Email, Phone #
  • What happens if there is missing data on the person or pet?
The registration will fail and you'll need to update any missing information in your Pawlytics. If a registration fails, you will not see it in your portal. If the registration was successful, you will see it in less than 2 minutes.
  • Do I have to mark the adoption again to retry the registration?
Nope! We have a sync that runs daily to retry any pets that have been adopted but not yet registered into PetLink. Once you've corrected the missing information, your part is done! The registration will run again at Midnight CST.
  • Does PetLink contact my adopters post adoption?
They'll get a welcome email when the chip gets enrolled sent to the email address provided at adoption. PetLink will send marketing emails to purchase from the Petlink Store but these can be opted out of if they'd like to.
  • Who do I contact if I need additional help?
Below are the regional maps showing who to contact based on where you're located.
